USE A STURDY BOX

Rollers should be fastened securely in a sturdy box so that they do not move and damage each other during shipping. We use a very strong shipping shell (shown below) to ship all rollers that don't arrive in a good box. The rollers are secured by roller carriers that suspend the rollers inside the box and prevent them from touching and damaging each other.

DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHTS

One box will typically hold 3 rollers (shown below). Our roller box measurements:

  • Width=6"
  • Height=2-3"
  • Length=Overall length of longest roller + 6"

SHIPPING VIA PALLET

Plywood is preferable when constructing a box or attaching a box to a pallet (shown below).

The rollers should be packed snugly into the box. Use cardboard between rollers to ensure that roller knurls are not damaged.

Shipping Your Rollers

Follow these simple tips to safely ship your rollers to our shop for recovery or to return rollers as part of an exchange purchase:

  1. It is economical to ship one or two sets of rollers in boxes, as long as the total weight is less than 150 pounds. Over 150 pounds, it may be more economical to palletize the load and choose freight.
  2. Choose sturdy materials for boxing rollers. Pressed cardboard (shown at left) made for shipping steel shafts is the safest choice.
  3. Avoid using cardboard boxes unless you are shipping one or two rollers, and the combined weight is less than 25 lbs.
  4. Don't use pine boxes -- the wood is weak and the rollers can force their way out of the box. If you are constructing your own box, use plywood. Your box needs to be strong enough to survive being dropped from a waist-high height on its corner.
  5. Rollers should not be loose in the box, as they will bang against each other, damaging the knurls. Use paper or plastic to cushion the rollers, or fasten them within the box.
  6. Make sure your company name is on your shipping label. If possible, include a copy of your paperwork (order form or purchase order) in the box as well as sending the paperwork to us via fax or email. When returning used exchange rollers, please include a note indicating that the rollers are being returned to complete your order.

GROUND OR FREIGHT

We usually use UPS to ship rollers to our customers, but can also arrange for pick-up by Fed Ex.

For orders over 150 lbs, we suggest comparing freight transit times and rates with ground shipping. Use Class 85. Be sure to insure your freight and check the carrier's limitations on insurance for used (refurbished) goods. You can get a LTL ("less than truckload") quote through companies like these and others. We can also arrange freight service for you.
